The questions most pastors have never been asked

Your financial plan may have gaps no one has ever raised.

Ministry creates financial situations that are genuinely unique — and quietly dangerous when left unexamined.

"If something happened to your spouse and you're living in a church parsonage — what would you do?"
A pastor's death or involuntary transition can mean losing both income and housing within 30–60 days. Most pastoral families have no plan for this scenario.
"When was the last time you checked the beneficiaries on every retirement account you own?"
Beneficiary designations override your will. Pastors who've served at multiple churches often have scattered accounts with outdated or incorrect beneficiaries — and the will is irrelevant.
"Has anyone told you that rolling your 403(b)(9) into an IRA could cost you tens of thousands in retirement?"
A 403(b)(9) allows tax-free housing allowance distributions in retirement. Once you roll it into an IRA, that treatment is permanently lost. It cannot be undone.
"If your assets pass to your adult children, are they protected?"
Life insurance payouts plus retirement accounts add up quickly. Without the right structure, that inheritance could be exposed to creditors, lawsuits, or circumstances your children haven't planned for.
The program

5 sessions. Under 60 days. A complete financial plan.

Every other Monday evening, you and your spouse join a small group of pastoral couples on Zoom. You learn, you build, and you leave each session with something real.

Session 1
What you don't know could hurt your family
We start with the hard questions — the clergy-specific financial risks most pastors have never been asked about. Then we get you set up in professional planning software and connect your accounts so you can start building with real data.
You leave with: your financial dashboard live, your accounts connected, and questions about your financial future you'll be thinking about all week
Session 2
Where is your money actually going?
See your real spending for the first time as a couple. Build a budget, review your debts, and uncover clergy-specific opportunities — like housing allowance optimization and SECA offsets — that could put real dollars back in your pocket immediately.
You leave with: your real spending on screen, a budget you built together, and at least one way to keep more of what you earn
Session 3
Are we going to be okay?
The question every pastoral couple quietly asks — answered tonight with real numbers. Using the cash flow data you've already built, you'll enter Social Security estimates, retirement accounts, and clergy-specific tax factors to see your full retirement projection.
You leave with: your retirement number — built on real data, not a guess — and knowing exactly what moves the needle
Session 4
Protecting what you've built together
This session is built for the spouse. Life insurance gaps, the parsonage risk, beneficiary misalignment, estate planning essentials, and the provisions most couples don't know exist. This is the night that changes how you think about your family's security.
You leave with: a clear picture of what's protecting your family — and what isn't
Session 5
Your plan and your three most important moves
Review your completed financial plan together. Generate your summary report. Then identify the three most important financial decisions you need to make in the next 90 days. Not 25 things. Three.
You leave with: your completed plan, a downloadable report, and the three moves that matter most right now

Your guide

Built by a financial advisor who understands ministry from the inside.

Todd Hukill was first licensed as a financial advisor in 2000 with what is today Ameriprise Financial Advisors. For the past 18 years, he's also served as the Finance Director of the Tennessee Assemblies of God Ministry Network. He's been a church planter, a lead pastor, and a church planting director. He understands ministry finances because he's lived them from every angle.

That combination — professional financial expertise and decades of hands-on ministry experience — is why he founded Legacy Path Advisors, a fee-only fiduciary firm built specifically to serve pastors and ministry leaders. He created this program because he's seen too many pastoral families making critical financial decisions without the guidance they deserve.

Common questions

Does my spouse need to participate?
Yes — this program is designed for couples. Your financial plan is a household plan, and the most important conversations happen between the two of you. Both spouses should plan to attend all five sessions.
Do I need any financial background?
None at all. This program is built for pastors who have never worked with a financial planner. We walk through everything step by step — you just need to show up and follow along.
Will other participants see my financial information?
No. All teaching and demonstrations use a sample household — never your personal data. You build your plan on your own device, on your own time. Your financial information is completely private.
What happens if I miss a session?
Life happens — especially in ministry. If you miss a session, you'll receive a follow-up email with everything you need to catch up before the next meeting. Each session builds on the one before, so we encourage you to prioritize attendance.
What if I already have a financial advisor?
This program is educational — it helps you understand your financial picture and build a plan. Many participants use what they learn to have better, more informed conversations with their existing advisor. There is no requirement to move accounts or change your current relationship.
Is this financial advice?
The group sessions are educational. You'll have access to professional planning software to build your own financial plan with guided instruction. Individual financial advice is available through the optional $49/month continuation (which includes an annual planning review) are through a separate full advisory relationship with Legacy Path Advisors.
What time zone are the sessions in?
7:30 PM Central Time — that's 8:30 Eastern, 6:30 Mountain, and 5:30 Pacific.
What does the $49/month include after the program?
Continued access to your planning software — budget tracking, account aggregation, net worth monitoring, and the ability to update your plan as life changes. It also includes one 60-minute annual planning review with Todd. The initial commitment is 12 months, after which you can continue month-to-month or cancel anytime. This is optional — not required to keep the plan you built during the program.
Who is this for?
Pastors and ministry leaders — at any stage of career or life — who want to build a real financial plan with their spouse. Whether you're a senior pastor, associate pastor, church planter, youth minister, or bivocational leader, the content is tailored to the unique financial realities of ministry.
